Q   How can I get more information about different options of Chrom&Spec software?   

A   If you are not sure how some option works, the best idea is to try it. You can download demo version of the software and try investigation of demo chromatograms. These chromatograms are opened in a special mode, where appropriate options are activated for the opened file only. The set of allowed options depend on the demo chromatogram selected. Information on the activated options can be found in the “comment” section of the Passport or you can see it as a tip window if you will stop mouse pointer inside the opened chromatogram window for few seconds.  

Q   How many devices can be controlled by Chrom&Spec software?   

A   There is no specific limit of the number of controlled devices or systems, but to run more than one system concurrently, you should purchase appropriate number of time bases, every extra system requires additional time base. If you never start these systems together, you will need only one time base.  

Q   What is the difference between Lite and Basic versions of the software?   

A   Lite version is a fully-functional version of the software, but it has limited number of supported drivers. You can expect that this system is able to run e.g. simple isocratic LC hardware. Examples of devices that are not working in the light version: autosamplers, gradient systems, diode array detectors. Request current list of devices, supported by lite version.

Q   What is the difference between EMG and Factor Analysis deconvolution of peaks?   

A   Both procedures try to give you more information about a group of incompletely resolved peaks: elution profiles of individual components. Besides, Exponentially Modified Gaussian deconvolution utilizes information about typical peak shape, whereas Factor Analysis is based on proportionality of detector response to concentration of analyte and requires chromatograms with more than one channel (e.g. those collected using Diode Array Detector).

Q   What is the difference between standard and advanced reporting engines?   

A   Standard report engine can create plain text-based reports and has limited capabilities of report configuration. Advanced report engine includes interactive report template editor and can include configurable font styles and sizes; user-defined formulas; graphic images; conditional font colors, depending on concentration of analyte and many other features. Report can be directed to file in many popular formats (PDF, RTF, HTML) in addition to plain TXT available in standard report engine. These advantages can be used both in single-run and statistic reports.

Q   How can we export the results of analyses to Excel?   

A   To export the results you must write the report to file. In this case in the window Report Options the following settings must be set:
   - set the flag “to file”,
   - set in the area Items to report only one flag Peak table,
   - select Tabulation in the field Separator,
   - in the field File name enter the name of file with Excel extension (if the analyses results must be written in separate files you must renew this name every time),
   - if you need to write in one file the results of more than one analysis, set the switch Append,
   - if you want to start Excel after writing the file, you must enter complete path to Excel in the field Custom program (if you add the sign @ after the space, the recently made file will be opened).
   When the data export is on regular basis, it’s comfortable to use the special template file stat.rtt, which ensures proper export settings independently of contents of the Report options dialog.

Q   How can we learn the number of HASP dongle and software version being used?   

A   The number of dongle and version are indicated in the window About Chrom&Spec which is opened by Help/About menu item. If you double-click and then click right mouse button on the dongle number, you can copy in to the buffer and send us for support or upgrade requests.

Q   Must the reference component be the same as standard component?   

A   No, it mustn’t. There is only one standard component and its concentration is accepted as known. There may be more than one reference components, and you can select them from the list of identified components as they are used only for correction of retention time for other components.

Q   How can we edit labels at the graphic in report (we need the components’ names above peaks)?   

A   You can change the labels of peaks on the screen as well as in the report using special menu option in window Appearance on the page Labels. In particular it’s possible to choose component names (as they are written in the Components Table) or the names with measured quantities together.

Q   Can we get at the same time chromatograms from two chromatographs using only one ADC?   

A   Yes, you can. And using 4-channel ADC - even from 4 devices. Data acquisition for every ADC channel can start independently.
